【摘要】:Highwaterconcentrationscanhaveadetrimentaleffectonmanyusesofhalogenatedsolvents.4.1.1Watercancausecorrosionandspottingwhensolventsareusedformetalcleaning.4.1.2Watercanreducetheshelflifeofaerosolformulations.4.1.3Watercaninhibitdesiredreactionswhensolventsareusedinformulations.1.1ThesetestmethodsdescribetheuseoftheKarlFischer(KF)titrationfordeterminationofwaterinhalogenatedorganicsolventsandmixturesthereof.Waterconcentrationsfrom2to1000ppmcanbedeterminedinthesesolvents.Twotestmethodsarecoveredasfollows:1.1.1TestMethodA,WaterDeterminationUsingaCoulometricKFTitratorThecoulometrictestmethodisknownforitshighdegreeofsensitivity(typically10gH2O)andshouldbethetestmethodofchoiceifwaterconcentrationsaretypicallybelow50ppmorifonlysmallamountsofsampleareavailableforwaterdeterminations.Thistestmethodrequirestheuseofequipmentspecificallydesignedforcoulometrictitrations.1.1.2TestMethodB,WaterDeterminationUsingaVolumetricKFTitratorThevolumetrictestmethodisamoretraditionalapproachtoKFwaterdeterminations.AlthoughtitratorsarespecificallydesignedforKFvolumetricdeterminations,manyautomatictitratorsonthemarketcanbeadaptedtoperformKFtitrations.1.2Eitherofthesetestmethodscanbeusedtodeterminetypicalwaterconcentrations(15to500ppm)foundinhalogenatedsolvents.1.3ThesetestmethodsrecommendtheuseofcommerciallyavailableKarlFischertitratorsandreagents.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSections11and15.
